This is a list of my Super Mario World (SMW) hacks. An SMW hack is an edit of the classic SNES game Super Mario World in order to add my own features to the game, or sometimes just as a platform to create my own game. All hacks are distributed in IPS format in order to avoid any copyright infringement. Instructions on patching the IPS files to make a playable game can be found on SMWCentral.net. The roms can then be played in an emulator or on your own SNES if you have a flashcart. Hacks are listed chronologically.

Karoshi Mario

Karoshi Mario

A Mario Hack based off of the gamemaker game "Karoshi: Suicide Salaryman" by Jesse Venbrux, except moved to the Mario universe. A lot of the things in this game are similar to the original in Mario, despite it being very easy to make them different. The reason for this is simple; I wanted it to seem as though Mario was in his own universe, not some other universe. In case you have never played Karoshi before, the objective is to die. When you die, you beat the level and move on. This is my first released hack and was released in 2010. It's not perfect, but it holds sentimental value for me.

Drive the Desert Bus

Drive the Desert Bus

A joke hack, a sort of port of the "Desert Bus" minigame from the unreleased "Penn and Teller's smoke in mirrors", a game for the Sega CD system that used various clever tricks to allow you to annoy your friends. In this game, you drive a bus from a top down view from Phoenix, Arizona, to Las Vegas, Nevada, in real time. The game takes 8 hours to complete one level, then you get to go back and do it again. You get one point for each trip you make.

Mario Superstar

Mario Superstar

A hack created with the help of one TLMB (I did the coding, he did the level design and graphics) for a contest, which it won first place in. In this game, Mario can't jump on enemies as he usually can. Instead, Mario is equipped with a net with which he can capture enemies. When Mario captures an enemy, he takes something from them which he uses to destroy his enemies, a "power" if you would. This is just a single level, but it was a lot of fun to make.

A Mad Christmas

A Mad Christmas

Another hack created for a contest, this time solely by myself, with some contributions in the graphics department. This game is a complete departure from the format of Mario games. Instead of running through a level, controlling with a gamepad, this game has you in a one screen room, moving with the gamepad, but also controlling a cursor with the mouse. Then, enemies drop from the sky to attack you and you have to fight them off (There's a tutorial to show you how). This is five levels long, ending in an epic showdown with Santa Clause. Note: This game was made before low level emulation of the Cx4 chip was realized and before there was much documentation on the chip. Because of this, the game does not follow some of the rules it should (because I didn't know them) and so will not run on more recent emulators or the SNES, I know it can be run under snes9x 1.53.

Mario and Luigi Do Stuff

Mario and Luigi Do Stuff

Another hack created with the help of TLMB for a contest. This one doesn't really have a proper name since it was completed recently, but I'm calling it that. There are a few more bugs in this one than normal due to time constraints, but it still turned out pretty well. You may notice that we want you to read the readme. You should do it.

Flappy Mario

Flappy Mario

It's Flappy Bird painstakingly recreated as a Super Mario World hack. Boy am I clever
